My name’s Eve, a final-year KCL student and Oxbridge postgraduate candidate, and I’m building Olympia Academics from the ground up to give the classics a home again.
Eve Ozmen, BA Philosophy (Hons) (AKC) final year undergraduate. King’s College London, Westminster
I’ve been reading philosophy for a little over 6 years, and with my ambitions firmly rooted in a PhD at the intersection of Classical Philosophy and Metaphysics, I’ll never stop. My immersion in Central London’s philosophy scene, combined with my personal experience of achieving highly in my own A-Levels and higher education, gives me a unique and valuable perspective as a tutor to young people.
Myself and my brilliant tutors, endorsed and managed by me, offer first-class tuition across exam boards; dedicated to technical academic success like no other. We have some of the most competitive pricing on the market, especially since services for these subjects are few and far between.
Trusting your tutor enough to make mistakes around them without anxiety and to be honest about everything from lesson content to focus levels is crucial. I’m proud to be able to spark that first light of genuine understanding in students that have oftentimes already given up on their Philosophy A Level.
Philosophy is the human condition, and I am privileged to be able to bring it out of those I teach.
Comfort, familiarity, and rapport comes first. My priority is ensuring my student always feels respected in our time together; tuition shouldn’t be something they dread.
Student control: the content we cover, the style of lesson, and the pacing. Not only does this foster a deep understanding of the structure of the course they’re studying, but prepares them for higher education and gives them a real sense of agency - making the course less intimidating and mysterious.
We take breaks. This reduces the academic/social pressure, and facilitates the spaced repetition and active recall that is woven into all our discussions.
Lecture-style teaching - for learning content, or when focus/energy levels aren’t allowing for more active contribution.
Active learning - I use the blurting method a lot with students as a good active recall exercise. For moving content to long-term memory and ensuring our lesson is equivalent to multiple hours of independent revision.
Essay planning and writing - for consolidating content and preparing for exams.
Lessons are typically one hour. Students might need longer lessons sometimes, especially as exams approach, so up to two-hour sessions are also offered. Twice a week is recommended in order to keep active-recall up throughout the week and reduce writing anxiety.
Payment is exclusively the parent’s domain, and I take care to keep you in the loop academically. Their requests for extra lessons and marking add-ons will always go through you.
How I use a variety of principles and techniques to bring about high achievement:
All lessons are carried out remotely via Google Meet.
In-person tuition is subject to location restrictions (currently only Central London, zones 1-4) and travel fees.
